UIN Surakarta Breaks MURI Record with Highest Number of International Student Applicants

Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Raden Mas Said Surakarta has made history by earning a prestigious recognition from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) as the Islamic Higher Education Institution with the Highest Number of International Student Applicants. The award was officially presented on August 19, 2025, in Surakarta, marking a milestone achievement for the university in its journey toward global recognition.

This achievement was the result of a series of strategic collaborations between UIN Surakarta and more than 50 Indonesian embassies around the world, aimed at promoting both the university’s academic excellence and its Rector’s Scholarship. The program, known for its full coverage and high competitiveness, attracted thousands of applicants from 50 different countries. The rigorous selection process consisted of document screening, academic potential tests, and comprehensive interviews, ensuring that only the most qualified candidates could proceed.

In the end, just 16 students successfully secured the Rector’s Scholarship, each bringing outstanding achievements in diverse fields such as sports, arts, academics, scientific publications, and Qur’anic memorization. “The enthusiasm we received from international applicants was truly beyond expectations. With this selective process, we are confident that UIN Surakarta will welcome excellent students who will contribute greatly to both academic and cultural exchange,” said Wildi Adila, Head of the International Affairs Office. This recognition not only celebrates UIN Surakarta’s remarkable achievement but also reinforces its position as a globally competitive institution of higher learning. (PHI)
