
UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta conducted the interview stage for prospective international students for the 2026/2027 Academic Year on 3–4 June 2026 through an online platform. The event was hosted by the the Center for International Affairs (PHI) and officially opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Institutional Development, Prof. Dr. H. Zainul Abas, S.Ag., M.Ag.
In his opening remarks, Abas congratulated the candidates who had successfully advanced to the interview stage. He emphasized that the participants were among the most outstanding applicants, having passed a highly competitive selection process. Out of a total of 1,355 international applicants, only around 100 candidates advanced to the interview stage after successfully passing both the administrative screening and the Computer-Based Test (CBT).
The Vice Rector also reaffirmed UIN Surakarta’s commitment to enhancing academic quality through internationalization. “UIN Surakarta is committed to continuously improving the quality of education by involving international students in our academic environment. We hope that the learning opportunities offered by our university can be accessed by the international community and generate broader benefits,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Center for International Affairs explained that this year’s recruitment process focuses not only on increasing the number of international students but also on expanding their presence across different study programs. In line with the university’s efforts toward international accreditation, PHI aims to ensure that every study program at UIN Surakarta is represented by international students, thereby strengthening the institution’s global academic atmosphere.

The interview process involved a total of 29 personnel, consisting of 8 technical staff members and 21 interviewers representing the university’s five faculties. This collaborative effort was designed to ensure a comprehensive, transparent, and objective evaluation of each candidate’s academic background, achievements, cultural adaptability, and motivation to study at UIN Surakarta.
Currently, UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta hosts 38 international students from nine countries: the Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Tajikistan, The Gambia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. Through this year’s admission process, the university hopes to further expand its international reach while strengthening its position as an inclusive institution with growing global competitiveness.
