UIN Surakarta International Students Shine at The International Youth Eco-Culture Camp 2025

Eight international students from UIN Surakarta represented the university at the International Yout Eco-Culture Camp 2025, a dynamic platform for cultural exchange and environmental sustainability. Held at Bedingin Park, Ponorogo, from 24-26 October 2025, the event was successfully organized by four joint universities, including UIN Surakarta, UIN Tulungagung, UNIDA Gontor, and UIN Ponorogo. Students from diverse backgrounds and countries, such as Turkey, Mali, Nigeria, Gambia, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Timor-Leste, converged in Ponorogo to engage in ecological activities, workshops, and collaborative projects. The camp also offered a unique opportunity for participants to experience the rich cultural heritage of Ponorogo, including the traditional Reog Ponorogo dance.

The camp's focus on ecological conservation and sustainability provided a unique opportunity for UIN Surakarta students to deepen their understanding of environmental issues and develop innovative solutions. Through hands-on activities and discussions, participants explored ways to promote eco-friendly practices, reduce waste, and conserve natural resources. The Reog Ponorogo dance performance, with its vibrant costumes and energetic movements, was a highlight of the camp, showcasing the beauty of Indonesian culture.

By participating in the the International Yout Eco-Culture Camp 2025, UIN Surakarta international students strengthened their global connections and developed valuable skills in environmental sustainability and cultural exchange. The experience will empower them to become ambassadors for ecological awareness and cultural understanding in their communities, promoting a greener future and cross-cultural appreciation. Mamudou, a Gambian's student, believed that this experience may broaden his perspective on environmental sustainability and cultural diversity. "We enjoyed learning about eco-friendly practices, participating in traditional Reog Ponorogo dance, and connecting with international students from diverse backgrounds. The experience was enriching, and we feel grateful for the opportunity to attend and make meaningful connections," he added.
