UIN SURAKARTA - International students from UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta (UIN Surakarta) held a cultural study tour to the Dieng Peak area in Central Java. The event began from 12 to 13 September 2025. This cultural trip was organized by the Student Affairs Department to deepen cross-cultural understanding and introduce the unique local traditions closely tied to the natural environment and history of the Dieng community in Central Java.
This cultural study tour aims to instill sustainable values in preserving nature, enriching academic and personal cultural experiences. UIN Surakarta, through its Center for International Relations and the Student Affairs Department, acted as cultural translators and local language instructors, leading the tour. Students were also provided with guidance before and after the trip to maximize their understanding.

Dr. KH. Abd. Faisol, M.Hum., Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, delivered remarks and opened the event. It is hoped that this program can become a regular event, with a broader scope, involving more students from various countries, and strengthening collaboration with local communities for cultural and environmental preservation. Furthermore, Muhammad Aprianto, who was brought in as an information resource, also presented on the unique rituals of Dieng and its ethnic groups. He also discussed the differences between Surakarta and Kartasura. UIN Surakarta campus is located in the Kartasura area, although Kartasura is not part of Surakarta City. Surakarta City is not Kartasura, although it has its own distinct palace.

This activity had a positive impact on the international students' experiences. They gained a greater understanding of the natural landscape of the Dieng region. They saw the Dieng region as part of Indonesia's natural landscape. They were enthusiastic and supportive of this kind of cultural study being conducted more than once a year. However, it is important to understand that such adaptations are necessary as part of the learning process. They expressed their gratitude to the leadership and team for providing this cultural study activity. (Adl/PHI)
